eSCAN ELITE

System test results are color coded for for easy recognition of a problem with; “green” being good, “yellow” being marginal, “orange and red” being bad. It’s that easy! You can activate a voice mode and the ESCAN ELITE will alert you of problems within the engine control system as they happen.

Total Fuel Trim (TFT) Test
The Total Fuel Trim (TFT) test displays fuel trim data in a graph using Load and RPM as the axis. Making quick work of finding out exactly when a fault is occurring with fuel control.
In the shared example, it is quite easy to see the problem gets worse as the load increases; this can be seen by the green at the bottom light load condition moving to red as the load increases.
Volumetric Efficiency (VE) Test
The Volumetric Efficiency (VE) test can be used to determine if the engine is breathing properly or if there is a problem with a sensor.
In order to identify the cause of the VE problem, the amount of air being read by the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is tested. The yellow trace is produced from the MAF sensor and the red trace shows what the engine air pumping capability should be. It’s easy to see the air reading is low compared to the MAF sensor reading. This indicates the MAF sensor is misreading the air volume entering the engine.
VE / TFT Comparison
Using test results from the Volumetric Efficiency and Total Fuel Trim tests a comparison test is run.
Comparing the Total Fuel Trim (TFT) chart with the VE chart it is easy to see that the air reading shown in blue matches the fuel trims shown in yellow. This Comparison indicates that the MAF sensor is bad.
These combined patented diagnostic tests allow the technician to quickly and accurately make a diagnosis no matter how complicated the problem is.
